Jasper County, Texas-

DPS - At approximately 3:45p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on SH 63 in Jasper County.  The crash occurred near Burkeville, Texas.

Initial reports indicate that a 2005 Mercury passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on SH 63.  The Mercury attempted to pass another vehicle, but met an oncoming passenger vehicle.  To avoid a head-on collision, the driver of the Mercury veered back to the right causing the driver to lose control.  The vehicle traveled off the road, into a ditch and struck a concrete culvert.  After striking the culvert, the vehicle rolled down a steep embankment and came to rest in its top.

The driver, a 44-year-old female, and the front passenger, a 17-year-old female, of the Mercury were pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Mike Greer at the scene.  Both were from Louisiana.

The two additional passengers were both 7-year-old boys.  One child was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial hospital with serious injuries.  The second child was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in Louisiana with serious injuries.

There are no additional details available at this time.
