Sabine County Sheriff Deputy & Constable David Boyd

Sabine County, Texas-

Daily News reported back in January 2019 that Sabine County Sheriff Deputy David Boyd had been placed on paid leave following allegations of misconduct.

Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox confirmed that Sabine County Sheriff Deputy David Boyd has been placed on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of an investigation by Texas Rangers.

"I really can't comment on the investigation, it is not being conducted internally by my office," Maddox said.

The investigation comes after allegations of improper behavior. Texas Rangers are leading the inquiry into the complaint. Sheriff Maddox did not know when the investigation would be complete.

Sabine County Sheriff Deputy David Boyd was sworn into office on Monday, Nov. 12, by Sabine County Judge Daryl Melton. Boyd was elected to serve in the Sabine County Precinct 1 Constable position, which has been vacant for more than a year.

Sheriff Maddox said he will update us as soon as more is known concerning the outcome of the investigation. "
