Nacogdoches Texas-

A tragic accident has claimed the life of a Nacogdoches man last night around 8:30 p.m. Nacogdoches Sheriff's Office issued a statement as follows: Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Cr. 554 in the Kingtown Community in reference to a tree falling on a man. Upon arrival deputies identified the victim as Weston Charles Wheeler 48 years of age.

The accident did occur on private property. The land owner had hired someone to cut some trees on their property. According to the report, tree that was in the process of being removed fell on the victim. Wheeler was pronounced deceased on the scene by Justice of the Peace Kerry Don Williamson.

The investigation is still ongoing, but this appears to be an accident and a terrible tragedy.

Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges stated on social media post, that on a personal note, I have known Weston Wheeler since I was a kid. Like many of you that have known him, I was stunned to hear this news. Wes was a good man and a good friend. He always had a smile on his face and went out of his way to talk to you. My deepest condolences go out to all the Wheeler family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
