Daily News reported the following story back in September 2017, when Broaddus was originally arrested and charged.
A Broaddus man has been arrested after allegedly abusing his roommate's son.
David Charles Broaddus, 48, was charged with felony injury to a child and arrested by San Augustine County Sheriff's Office on Sept. 14. 2017.
According to court documents, earlier that day a student at Broaddus Elementary School reported to school with Broaddus, with a bloody nose.
Broaddus brushed the child's bloody nose off as an injury that occurred when the boy walked into the door.
After Broaddus left and the child was taken to the nurse's office, he admitted that Broaddus had allegedly hit him in the nose and his "gizzard" or stomach. The boy was reluctant to tell of the alleged abuse to school officials and the school nurse, because he said that he didn't want to get anyone in trouble. The boy said that Broaddus told him that if the child said anything about the alleged abuse, then the child's father would get in trouble.
The child allegedly told investigators that Broaddus hits him a few times a week, when his father is not home.
Broaddus was arrested at a Broaddus residence, but also has a Huntington residence listed.
Persons named here have been charged, but not proven guilty of the alleged crimes stated. This information is obtained by written request to the Sheriff's Office from Daily News and More, under the Texas Public Information Act Government Code Chapter 551.
