Sabine County, Texas

SABINE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one vehicle crash yesterday afternoon on SH 87, about one mile north of Milam. 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 2004 Ford pickup was traveling south when the pickup drove off the roadway to the right. The driver of the pickup over corrected to the left, then back to the right and overturned off the right side of the roadway. 

The driver is identified as 71-year-old Marcus Crissman, from Milam. Crissman was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Sabine County Justice of the Peace. This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time. ###

The Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the cause of a one vehicle fatality accident on Highway 87, approximately one mile north of the Milam intersection.

First Responders from Shamrock Shores VFD, Pendleton Harbor VFD, and Hemphill VFD were dispatched to assist after a one vehicle roll-over accident at approximately 4:40 p.m. this afternoon. The report indicated the occupant was trapped in the vehicle. Responders arrived with the Jaws-of Life to extricate the driver from the Ford pick-up truck.

The truck appeared to be travelling southbound on Highway 87, near a very curvy section of roadway. The truck went off the roadway and flipped before coming to a stop near the treeline. 

The driver was pronounced dead on scene by Sabine County Judge Daryl Melton. Sabine County Sheriff's Deputy Johnny Jackson assisted. According to DPS an autopsy was ordered. The Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of the accident. The name of the driver was not released at this time.
