The unopposed candidate for Precinct 2 Sabine County Hospital District Board of Director's, George Young was sworn into office on Feb. 24, 2020. Young, will fill the seat previously by the Mr. Earl Willis. Willis passed away last month.

Hemphill City Council opposed the idea of implementing an ordinance requiring Hemphill residents to remove the cart after pick-up. According to Hemphill City Manager Laure Morgan several citizen had complained about them and put the item on the agenda for council to decide.
Mrs. Betty Oglesbee gave a brief update as the plan to renovate the park in San Augustine comes together. The park will include a splash pad. This is going to be a beautiful addition for the children in our county, she said. Daily News will be following up as the project continues.
Hemphill citizen Bill Barcheers told Hemphill City Council that the new service cost more for less. "We are paying more and the service has been cut down to once a week," he said. Barcheers stated he did not believe the contract was negotiated very well.
