November 1967.  Workmen place floats under the old Pendleton (Sabine River) Bridge in preparation to float the old structure to the shore so it could be dismantled.  This photo was taken from the new Pendleton Bridge over the new Toledo Bend Lake.  The new bridge towered over this old bridge.

We just finished a very successful Summer Reading Program. On Monday, the mascot, Pete the Cat was introduced. After reading about “Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons”, the kids made their own Pete the Cat sack puppet. On Tuesday, we read “The Loudest, Fastest, Best Drummer in Kansas”.

Hemphill Police Chief Roger McBride gave a monthly activity report during the April city council meeting. McBride went on to say that animal calls had increased, along with complaints at the Dixie League Field.

Six Mile Volunteer Fire Department was called to 118 Toledo Hills, off of FM 2928 at approximately 1 p.m. after neighbors reported a house fire. Firefighters arrived to find the wood frame home completely engulfed in flames.
