Heritage Days Features San Augustine Historical Places

San Augustine Main Street invites all our friends and neighbors to hop on the “History Bus”  on Saturday, June 5, during Heritage Days 2021. The “History Bus” will tour you through town into neighborhoods where some of the oldest homes with historic architecture and interesting stories abound.  The historic churches will cause you to either gasp or smile broadly. This is a treat for all ages.

Located on the El Camino de los Tejas, a route used by American settlers, San Augustine boasts many historic houses with connection to the Republic of Texas and the Texas Revolution. One such house belonged to Ezekiel Wimberly Cullen, a legislator, jurist, and lawyer who joined revolutionary forces and participated in the Siege of Bexar.  The house now is the home of the Ezekiel Cullen Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

The 30-45 minutes tour will be described by your own tour guide.  She will describe what you are seeing and you can ask questions as you go.

The History Bus will be stationed downtown with signage and is free to all.  Check for times of departure during the day.  Come join the tour.
