Sabine County was one of several East Texas counties with less than 20 active cases of COVID-19 and were allowed to opt out of Executive Order GA-29 relating to the use of face coverings. Since the June 26 order requiring face mask was issued Sabine County active cases has jumped from four to 18.

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is reporting Sabine County COVID-19 numbers to be 28 total positive cases since the pandemic was declared in March 2020. The website estimates 14 of those cases are active, 12 recovered, and one fatality. And that only equals 27, as noted above …
